2012 Off To Dynamic Start At Birr Theatre & Arts Centre

Birr Theatre & Arts Centre is delighted to begin 2012 with a dynamic range of events over the next few weeks.
Exhibiting Suas an Staighre is Common Ground - Tea Time, a professionally curated exhibition showcasing the exceptional talent and diversity of over 40 visual artists from the Midlands.
This Friday 6th January sees the welcome return of Neil Delamere with his new show 'Restructuring'. Near-the-knuckle funny and life affirming this is a must see for any discerning comedy fan!
The Film Club resumes with its screening of Incendies on Tuesday 10th January. A striking adaptation of Wajdi Mouawad's stage play, this intimate epic interweaves the personal, the political and the mythical to gripping effect. Its next offering is The Tree on Tuesday 17th January which tells the story of eight year old Simone, who after the sudden death of her father is convinced that he speaks to her through the leaves of her favourite tree.
On Friday 20 January, Dinner Jacket Productions present Musical Toast with David Martin (tenor), Jonathan Carter (baritone) and Sinead Conway (soprano) who return to Birr with a new programme which promises to give the audience a cross-section of genres and styles from classic opera to musical theatre with a mix of humour and fun.
An exciting filmmaking course designed specifically for the younger generation begins on Saturday 21st January. The Reel World participants will focus on identifying a story, film and edit the footage into a short movie/documentary over five days. This course is suitable for 12-16 year olds and runs for four consecutive Saturdays. As places are limited early booking is recommended!
