County Manager To Present Roscrea People Awards
Thursday, 12 January 2012
MOST towns and villages experience a sense of depression when the Christmas festivities are over and the bright lights are turned off. But, in Roscrea, the arrival of January heralds the presentation of the prestigious Roscrea People of the Year Awards and, on Wednesday night next at the Damer Court Hotel, the awards will be presented for the 25th consecutive year with the 2011 recipients well deserving of their accolade.
Over the years, the organisers of the Roscrea People of the Year awards, George and Carmel Cunningham, have always ensured that the Awards Night is a true community night and have made sure that a special Guest of Honour is invited to the event. This year is most certainly no exception and the 2011 recipients will receive their awards from Mr Joe McGrath, Manager of North Tipperary County Council. The Manager, who is a native of Nenagh, will address the audience and present the awards in the second half of the evening, while the first half will include a presentation by George Cunningham on 'Aspects of Roscrea' and a musical treat from the local branch of Comhaltas, commencing at 7.30p.m.
