Birr Man Appointed To Board Of InterTradeIreland thumbnailBirr native Ray Hayden. MT04832

A Birr man has been appointed to the board of the cross-border body, InterTradeIreland.
Ray Hayden's appointment was approved at a recent meeting of the North-South Ministerial Council in Armagh.
Mr Hayden heads up Anglewise, a Public Affairs and PR business in Belfast, and also served as a Special Adviser to the Minister for Enterprise Trade and Investment in the first Northern Ireland Assembly.
A former award winning journalist, Mr Hayden also provides media training and PR crisis management services to clients in both the public and private sectors.
A former 'Midland Tribune' reporter, Mr Hayden spent twenty-four years in journalism north and south before setting up Anglewise in 1995. Prior to that, he worked as the Business Correspondent at UTV and as a freelance for ITN of London.
Mr Hayden, who retains close links with Birr, said he is honoured to have been invited to serve on the cross-border implementation body which was established under the Good Friday Agreement.
He said: 'Cross-border trade is a key part of the island economy accounting for many hundreds of businesses and thousands of jobs.
‘Even though we are in recession, there are still opportunities waiting to be exploited. I would encourage business, whether they are micro or large concerns, to look at the range of programmes offered by InterTradeIreland.
‘We face tough business challenges in the next few years which make it all the more important to look at what's happening from both a southern and a northern perspective. The island economy is more open than ever but there is still a lot more that could be done to promote real and meaningful economic activity.'
