REIGNING Offaly Rose Brianna Connaughton has urged women in the county to consider entering the 2012 Rose of Tralee International Festival which will take place in August this year.
County heats for the prestigious and popular contest will be held in the County Arms Birr on Saturday 28th April 2012 at 8 pm.
Elegant, sophisticated, ambitious, passionate, friendly, a true lady - combine this fabulous cocktail of characteristics and what you will discover is the Offaly Rose 2012!
Steve Cronly, Rose of Tralee National Co-coordinator said: 'We are inviting every young woman in Offaly to join us for a fun-filled experience that could lead to being selected International Rose of Tralee.'
Sporting and business organisations, social groups, community groups and social venues from around the county are encouraged to put forward a Rose entrant.
This is an opportunity for local businesses to become a part of the 2012 International Rose of Tralee Festival.
The fee for entering/nominating an entrant is €250 and the entrant will carry the name of your company/business on her sash through the many events which will be held during the county selection.
This year the selection wil be hosted and sponsored by County Arms, Birr on Saturday 28th April.
Roses will appear on stage to speak with a local MC, and get an opportunity to do a party piece of their choice if they so wish.
All entrants will be interviewed by a judging panel prior to Rose selection night.
Once the Offaly Rose has been selected she will continue on to the Regional Final which will be held in June, and from this event a number of roses will go through to the international event in August.
Once again the winning Rose in each county will receive a range of prizes from the Rose Centre including a selection of Newbridge Silverware.
The Irish Regional Final, hosted by Daiti O 'Shea, will take place in Portlaoise at the Heritage Hotel from Friday 1st June through to Monday 4th June.
This unique celebration, to be held over four days in Portlaoise, will offer the 63 Roses a wonderful experience together with a festival of fun for their families and friends.
So do you want to be a Rose? Can you handle the spirit and fun of 21 fellow roses to meet, open doors to opportunities, learn about and meet plenty of new life-long friends.
The Offaly Rose selection of 2012 promises to be all of the above and more. It will be a life changing experience for one lucky rose!
Modern women between the ages of 18 and 27 who, in their aspirations, are ambitious, intellectual, socially responsible and proud of their Irish heritage while representing their county on a national and international platform can apply.
