67 Housing Units Planned For Birr

OFFALY County Council's Planning Department have received an application for the construction of sixty-one dwelling units in Birr and have approved a further six this week.
The developers, Beech Avenue Properties Limited, state in their plans the development will be constructed in two zones, A and B, which was previously granted permission and is to include new roads, paths, services etc.
The dwelling units are being sought on vacant lands in the Seffin and Scurragh areas of the town, with Zone A located at Corr Na Meala and Zone B at MacRegol Cuirt and MacRegol Pairc.
Zone A comprises of twenty-one dwellings, thirteen detached and four semi-detached two storey dwellings.
Zone B refers to forty dwellings in total; three semi-detached two storeys, one two storey terraced townhouse, two three storey duplex blocks with the first block comprising of twelve units with six ground floor apartments and six first floor apartments and the second block to fill sixteen units, eight ground floor and eight first floor apartments.
Meanwhile, the planning department gave the green light to Cluid Housing for the addition of six single storey, two bedroom houses at Scurragh.
The development will provide one detached dwelling, two semi-detached houses and a terrace of three houses which will also consists of provisions for new vehicular access, new pedestrian access and twelve car parking bays.
Cluid, a registered member of the Irish Council for Social Housing applied for the housing development in November 2016, nonetheless the decision comes with twelve conditions surrounding the project's visual amenity, public health and proper planning control.
The housing association provides rented social housing for people who cannot afford to buy their own home or pay for private rented housing.
