Excessive Illegal Dumping Taking Place On Roadsides

Illegal dumping at Corolanty Bog, Shinrone recently. MT04424DF
A NUMBER of local councillors have pointed out that since Christmas there has been excessive dumping on our roadsides.
Cllr Peter Ormond said that as he goes to work in the mornings, he finds it very sad to see the large amount of rubbish dumped along the road.
He pointed out that the majority of the litter on our roads can be recycled.
Just before Christmas, the council had to hire a JCB, a tractor and dumper to remove litter from Cangort Road, Shinrone. However, the level of rubbish along the road is nearly as bad again.
'Yesterday,' remarked Cllr Ormond, 'I received a call from a constituent in Shinrone regarding dumping at Corolanty bog. I was horrified with what I saw this morning. Again the majority of the litter could have been recycled. To see the cuttings from trees dumped in the middle of the Laneway really annoyed me. These would rot away had they been dumped in an appropriate place.'
He appealed to members of the public to please keep an eye out for the people who are littering our countryside and report them to theappropriate authorities. 'This has to stop,' he said.
