300,000 expected at Ploughing '17 in Screggan

Thursday, 14 September 2017

UP to 300,000 visitors are expected to descend on Screggan for the next week's three-day National Ploughing Championships.
Preparations are now being finalised on the site which organisers say is in prime condition for competitions.
And informed sources say the ploughing will return to Screggan for a third year in 2018 provided proceedings run smoothly next week.
A comprehensive Garda traffic plan has been put in place similar to last year's which should ensure hassle free access and exit from the site.
The event gets underway at 9.00 am on Tuesday next, September 19 and will be officially opened by President Michael D. Higgins at 11.00 am that morning.
