Lorrha seek county final glory

Thursday, 30 November 2017

LORRHA take on Moycarkey Borris in Dolla on Sunday next (December 3) at 1.30pm in the County Under-21 B Hurling Final.
Last Saturday's County Under-21 B win for Lorrha over Golden Kilfeacle brought back memories of the last time Lorrha reached a county Under-21 A Final in 1966. That year, joined by a few Knockshegowna players, Lorrha won the North final by defeating Toomevara in the North decider 5-2 to 0-6. They defeated Carrick On Suir in the County semi final but not until April 9 the following year. The final against Knockavilla Kickhams was played at Templemore and the North champions won by 2-5 to 0-10 on May 28.
Next Sunday's final also brings back memories of Lorrha's last appearance in the county senior hurling final when Lorrha lost to Moycarkey Borris in the 1984 decider.
Moycarkey reached next Sunday's final with a Mid final win over JK Brackens followed by a county semi final victory over Cahir. However they take on an ever improving Lorrha side that overcame Golden last week in a game they could have won by a much bigger margin.
If they repeat their hard working ethic the North champions will be difficult to beat.
