OPW Minister visits Borrisokane and Carrigahorig thumbnailMinister of state for the OPW and Flood Relief Kevin "Boxer" Moran visited Carrigahorig village along with Deputy Lowry and Cllr Michael O'Meara to see first hand the flooding off Lough Derg onto the N65 Borrisokane to Portumna road.

MINISTER of State for the Office of Public Works and Flood Relief, Kevin 'Boxer' Moran, visited the Lower Ormond area last Friday afternoon when he visited Borrisokane and met with local people who are concerned about flooding in the town and surrounding areas and the resurfacing of Main Street.

The visit was organised by Michael Lowry TD to oversee first hand the extensive redevelopment of the main street in Borrisokane. The Minister also inspected the stormwater system that was installed a few years ago.

Minister Moran has a good knowledge of the town having passed through it on numerous occasions back to Athlone.

"Borrisokane is a strategically placed  town on two very important roads the N52 and the N65, a link to the south of Ireland but also a very important link to my own town of Athlone and the North of Ireland," said Minister Moran.

"I have assured Cllr O'Meara and Deputy Lowry that my Department will not be found wanting in supporting projects in this area," said Minister Moran.
