BIRR Golf Club is celebrating its 125th anniversary in 2018. We are one of the oldest clubs in Ireland, and would love to hear from new or former members wishing to join this vibrant club. We have a wide range of membership options available to suit everyone.
Birr Golf Club is an 18 hole course in top class condition and is constantly making improvements to enhance the course. We would like to welcome our new Greenkeeper Eoghan Buckley to our club. With his impressive résumé, which includes working at the world famous TPC in Sawgrass (home to the 5th Major, the Players' Championship), we are excited by the prospect of his experiences enhancing our course even further.
The club caters for all ages and ranges of golfer. It has vibrant Men's and Ladies clubs with a full schedule of events each year and participates in GUI and ILGU competitions. From April to October we have our Open Day each Tuesday where golfers can play the course for €15, which is great value, and they can also enjoy the excellent facilities available at the clubhouse. Every Thursday the seniors have their outing while the ladies have their Glen Eagles event on this day also. The President's Mixed Scramble takes place each Monday from April to September and is proving a very popular golfing and social event. Furthermore, the club caters for juvenile golfers from an early age who are mentored and introduced to the game by experienced golfers.
Societies are always very welcome to Birr Golf Club. Rates are very competitive, the course is in excellent condition, the restaurant caters for all palates and with a warm welcome, groups are guaranteed to enjoy their visit.
Birr Golf Club is also linked to The Heritage GC, Killenard, and New Forest GC, Tyrrellspass, where members can enjoy the complementary benefits of these two impressive courses.
In 2018 the club will also celebrate the 60th Anniversary of our prestigious Scratch Cup which was previously won by Irish Golfing Legends, Padraig Harrington, Ronan Raftery, Philip Walton and our own Richie Coughlan.
The Duck on the Green restaurant in the clubhouse currently serves excellent food on Saturdays and Sundays and will be open for business on extra days of the week during the golfing season. The restaurant caters for all golfers, societies, communions, confirmations and any other functions and overlooks stunning views across the course. The proprietor Naz can be contacted at (085) 7674375 for further details.
