RCTLC Sports Awards Announced

RCTLC have announced their 14th Annual Sports Stars Award recipients for 2011, which is headed by Hall of Fame recipient Jim Kelly from Borris-in-Ossory. Jim and the other recipients will be presented with their award at the 14th Annual Sports Awards Presentation Dinner to be held in Racket Hall Hotel on Friday, February 10th next.

The other recipients in the announced 2011 RCTLC Awards are:
Athletics: Michael Mulhare from North Laois.
Badminton - Roscrea Badminton Club.
Camogie - Harps, Laois.
Gaelic Football - Liam England, Inane Rovers,
Golf - Roscrea Ladies Minor Cup Team,
Hurling: Joe Brady from Coolderry,
Soccer - James Mullaney from Castletown.
The Team Award goes to the Tipperary Minor Football Team.
The winner of the Special Achievement Award goes to Martin Byrne from Golden Grove, Roscrea who during this year became the 19th Irish person to reach the summit of Mount Everest.
The Special Recognition Rugby Award goes to Denis Meagher and Ger Horan from Roscrea.
The Youth Award goes to Peter Dooley from Birr.
This year's Contribution to Sports is being awarded posthumously to Gerry Slevin RIP. Gerry was involved with the Sports Stars awards for many years.

The Sports Awards Presentation Dinner takes place as stated in the Racket Hall Hotel on Friday, February 10th at 8p.m. Tickets are now available from Marie Tooher or Pat Kennedy at the Roscrea Abbey Community Centre office (Abbey Hall) - Phone (0505) 23183. As tickets will be limited early booking is advisable and tickets for this prestigious social event would be ideal as Christmas presents at €45 per ticket.
