Captains' Dinner
There was a full house on Saturday night to honour our retiring Captains Johnny and Sinead. Michael Lorigan was MC and welcomed all to dinner. He said that we were here to thank the Captains for their hard work on behalf of the Club. And he also thanked President Pat Sheedy whose term of office has also come to an end. Both Captains then replied and thanked their respective Committees for all their support during the year. Lady Captain Sinead presented Marian Martin with the Lady Golfer of the year while Men's Captain Johnny presented Flan Lyons with the Men's Golfer of the Year award. Congratulations to both players. Michael rounded off the formal part of the evening by thanking our caterer Danny in serving up such a beautiful meal. Then it was to the bar where some chatted and listened to the music performed by Jim Chambers while others danced the night away. A night to remember!
Men's AGM
There was a good turnout for the AGM. President Pat Sheedy stated that Men's Captain Johnny McDonnell had give 100 percent effort during the year and had been a great ambassador for the Club. The Captain then addressed the meeting. It had been a great honour to have been Captain. He thanked his golfing affairs Committee especially Fabian Jones, Competition Secretary, also Club Staff, Team Managers, Juvenile Committee, and congratulated Flann Lyons on winning 2011 Golfer of the Year award. He wished Michael Lorigan, incoming Captain the best of luck for the year.
Comprehensive reports were given by Fabian Jones on Competitions and Proinnsias Loughnane on behalf of the Juvenile Committee.
Michael Lorigan in taking office said he was proud to be the new Men's Captain. It was a difficult time but he looked to the support of the members. He then introduced his Vice-Captain Paddy Bergin to the meeting.
Committee elected are as follows: F. Jones, J. Dooley, J. Geary, P. Kiely. One extra member to be co-opted later on.
AOB - Golfer of the Year to go back to nine competitions with six to count.
Other items discussed - Society Handicaps - CONGU decision expected.
Roscrea Credit Union Winter League - Saturday 3rd/Sunday 4th
Results: Overall winner Padraig Dooley (15) 38 points; Cat 1 (1-11) Declan Russell (11) 37 points Cat 2 (12-15) Frank Cullinan (15) 36 points Cat 3 (16+) Eamon Cunningham (16) 35 points.
Social Diary
Santa Claus makes a welcome return to the Golf Club on Sunday 18th December.
Subs 2012
Members are reminder that there exists a facility for easy payment of sub for 2012. Payments can be made at bar.

Ladies Golf
AGM - The Ladies Committee AGM took place on Monday 28th November. The meeting was opened by President Pat Sheedy where he thanked Lady Captain Sinead Holland on her commitment, work and ambassadorial role on behalf of our Club during her year as Captain. He also congratulated our lady member ILGU President Marjorie McCorduck on the great year she was having and wished her well for year 2012 in her role. He thanked our Lady members for their contribution to the organisation and running of the Club and wished the incoming Captain Nora Kennedy and her Committee well for 2012.
Captain Sinead then addressed the meeting and thanked her Committee and the Ladies for their support throughout the year, and ILGU President Marjorie for her support, particularly at the All Ireland finals of the Minor Cup, in Ardee. She congratulated team manager Marian O'Connor and the Minor Cup team on reaching the ILGU Inter-Club All Ireland Final and thanked all involved with the team, not forgetting the Ladies who started the year on the team but due to their success over the period in Club Medal Competitions, which resulted in handicap reduction, were not eligible to stay on the team. She also had a special thanks to both President Pat Sheedy and Captain Johnny McDonnell for their commitment and support for Ladies Golf through the year. She congratulated Marie Donnellan on winning her Captain's prize, Marian Martin on winning the Golfer of the Year and presented ILGU Silver Medal to Mary Tynan, ILGU Bronze Medal to Ann Parlon and the September brooch to Orla Egan. Reports for the year were also given by Hon Sec. Chris Mc Donnell, Treas. Orla Egan.
After AOB the election of the Ladies Committee for 2012 took place. Officers elected were Captain Nora Kennedy, Vice-Captain Eleanor Ryan Carroll, Hon. Sec. Chris McDonnell, Competition Secretary Rose Ryan and other committee members are Carmel Moloney, Marie Carroll and Joanne Mann.
Ladies Day
The annual Ladies Day Christmas Competition took place last Sunday in very cool and showery conditions. Despite the unpleasant conditions there was a great entry for this 12 holes event with great scores returned. In the evening we enjoyed a lovely meal served by our caterer Danny Parker and his staff. There was one great surprise once darkness fell and that was a surprise visit from Santa who arrived with a sack full of goodies for the ladies. Following the meal was presentation of prizes for all Christmas prizes Competitions, and Cancer Research Competition.

As we have come to the end of another very successful year for Ladies Golf we take this opportunity to wish all a very happy Christmas and look forward to a new golf calendar in 2012.
