BIRR will be disappointed after losing their first game at home in the Leinster League.
Visitors Balbriggan proved tries win games when they beat the Riverside men on a scorline of 27-25 on Sunday last. Birr's tally came from a try from Emmet Scully and 20 points from the boot of Brendan Heffernan but this did not prove enough as Balbriggan scored three tries on the day and scored a last play kick at goal from a penalty to win the game. Birr face Wexford at home next Sunday at 2.30p.m. in Birr.
Birr team: M O'Dwyer, D Stapleton, J Bracken, S Eades, D Purcell, P Haslam, E Gannon, A Guinan, E Scully, B Heffernan, D Culbert, T Bailey, D Guinan, S Moylan, W Hernon. Subs: P Burns, P Loonam, J Cleary, M Keane, S Eaton, S Niland.
