Action Returns To Club Scene Next Weekend

THE second round of the Tipperary Water County Senior Hurling championship will get underway this weekend with a full round of fixtures in all groups.


Group 1

First round winners Kiladangan and Loughmore are kept apart. Kiladangan who beat Borris-Ileigh will revisit Dolla for a clash with James Barry's Upperchurch Drombane. Kiladangan will be slight favourites. Meanwhile Semple Stadium will house the meeting of Borris-Ileigh v Loughmore Castleiney. Loughmore are favourites to advance.


Group 2

Ballina lost to Clonoulty Rossmore in round one but will have an earlier start this Friday evening to get back to winning ways when they face neighbours Portroe at Nenagh. Throw in 7.30p.m.. Ballina are expected to win. Then on Sunday Clonoulty face Drom Inch at Semple Stadium. Drom should advance and make it two wins out of two.


Group 3

Two games to be played on Sunday but twenty kilometres apart. Kilruane MacDonaghs will take on Thurles Sarsfields at Templemore at 3.30p.m. Sarsfields are expected to win but this will be a close fought encounter. Remember two years ago when Kilruane pushed the county champions all the way in the semi final. The other game should be an easy one for Nenagh Eire Og who take on Carrick Swans at Holycross.


Group 4

Another group where two first round winners face one another. Here Killenaule take on Eire Og Annacarty at Cashel, throw in 3.30pm. Killenaule are expected to win. Earlier in the day Burgess face Mullinahone at Cashel. Burgess could survive here.


Seamus O'Riain Cup Round 2

Round 1

On Saturday evening Roscrea take on Newport at Toomevara in a bid to win their first game. Toomevara - who beat Roscrea - will travel to Holycross to face Ballingarry.


Round 2

First round winners, Templederry take on Moycarkey Borris at The Ragg on Saturday, throw in 7.30. This will be a close fought game. Silvermines, who lost to Templederry in round one have a bye.


Round 3

The second three team group will see first round winners J K Brackens take on Clonakenny. Borrisokane will sit this one out.


Round 4

The third three team group has first round winners Holycross Ballycahill face Knockavilla Kickhams. Lorrha await the outcome.


Tipperary Water County IHC Round 2 Preview

The five North Tipperary Intermediate hurling teams are also in action in the second round of the Tipperary Water County Intermediate hurling championship.

In Group 1 Ballinahinch hope to claim their first win when taking on Gortnahoe. The 2016 North champions drew with Thurles Sarsfields in round one who in turn face Golden Kilfeacle.

Both Moneygall and Roscrea are situated in Group 2 and Roscrea field for the first time this year as they face Drom Inch at Moneygall on Saturday evening. Drom were first round winners against Moneygall.

In Group 4, Shannon Rovers hope to get their first win when face Carrick Davins at Templetuohy on Saturday evening, throw in 6.00p.m. First round winners Cashel King Cormacs face Sean Treacys in the other group game.

In Group 5 first round winners Kiladangan have a tough task when facing the other first round winner Cappawhite while Arravale Rovers take on Lattin Cullen.
