Kilcormac/Killoughey and St Rynagh's pushed to the brink but return to senior hurling final stage thumbnailCelebrating Kilcormac/Killoughey's victory over Belmont were Niall Gleeson, Secretary, Stephen Byrne, Manager and John Leahy, Selector. OH37-5-0739

Kilcormac/Killoughey and St Rynaghs will contest the Offaly senior hurling final on the first Sunday in October. Both edged home by a point in very tight affairs in horrendous weather conditions in Tullamore on Sunday against Belmont and Seir Kieran, respectively.
A Thomas Geraghty point with two minutes remaining gave K/K a 0-12 to 0-11 win over maiden semi-finalists Belmont in the first game. K/K hurled with the wind in the opening half but only went in three points up at the break with Belmont playing extremely well against the breeze.
A wasteful Belmont eventually got it back level in the second half before Geraghty struck the winner and left the Belmont men to rue their 10 second half wides.
Reigning champions St Rynaghs are also back in the decider after a 0-14 to 1-10 win over Seir Kieran. Stephen Quirke led the way with eight points for the Shannonsiders.
Seir Kieran, led by Joe Bergin who scored a first half penalty, led 1-10 to 0-7 after 38 minutes but Rynaghs showed the mark of champions by coming back into it with Pat Camon landing the winning score as Seir Kieran failed to score in the closing 22 minutes.
The pair last met in the final back in 2014 on a day when K/K made in three Offaly senior championships in a row. K/K also got the better of St Rynagh's in the 2012 decider, K/K's first ever Offaly senior hurling title.
The margins were extremely small in both matches. The weather certainly played a part but in the end the guile and experience of K/K and St Rynagh's shone through.
