Martin hotly tipped for Offaly Senior hurling job

FORMER Offaly and Tullamore stalwart Kevin Martin is the man hotly tipped to take over from Kevin Ryan as the next Offaly senior hurling manager.
With a County board meeting coming up on Tuesday, it is widely expected that a new manager will be announced on the night with Kevin Martin the man expected to be ratified.
Speaking at the County senior hurling final on Sunday, Offaly GAA Chairman Tommy Byrne didn't add or take from the speculation but did add that they were hoping to ratify the new manager at that meeting on the 10th of October.
The man who guided Tullamore to the County title in 2009 has also had success with Westmeath senior hurlers by winning the Christy Ring cup while he has also managed Clough-Ballacolla to a Laois Senior hurling title.
He is a former All Ireland winner and All Star with Offaly and looks set to be the preferred candidate of the committee set up to recommend hurling managers at senior, U21 and Minor level. That committee consists of Tommy Byrne, Eamon Cusack, Brian Gavin, Pat Fleury and Martin Cashen.
At the last County Board meeting, it was said that the U21 management would be looked at once the senior was in place.
The meeting on Tuesday will also see Stephen Wallace also brought for ratification as the next Offaly Senior football manager.
