The communities of local primary schools came together to mark International Day last week.
On Thursday, April 11, pupils and teachers from Mercy Primary School, Birr and St Brendan's Primary School, Birr gathered in the Marian Hall, to celebrate the children in both schools with links to other countries.
There was a fantastic range of projects on display, completed by the children, with help from their parents and teachers. A fabulous array of tasty foods from these countries were also on offer for all to taste.
Under the guidance of Capt. Thomas Kelly, the army band from Athlone Barracks entertained the crowd with an excellent concert, teaching everyone about the different instruments they were playing at the same time.
It was a lovely celebration of the diversity within the two schools and was thoroughly enjoyed by the huge crowd in attendance.
