Midlands soprano Yvonne O’Toole has been nominated in the category of ‘Best Wedding Ceremony Singer’ in the Brides Choice Awards for the second year in a row.

Launched in 2014, the Mrs2Be Brides’ Choice Awards are the first, and so far the only, wedding industry awards in Ireland which are based on a detailed review process from each nominee’s previous customers, with a range of criteria being judged, including professionalism and quality. For Yvonne, to be nominated for the second successive year by brides whose weddings she’s performed at came as both a surprise and an honour.

“I received the most amazing email to tell me that I’d been nominated again this year, and it came out of the blue, to be honest. I have to say a massive thank-you to all of my fabulous brides for 2018 who nominated me. It was such a pleasure to be a part of everyone’s special days. And you know, really the only thing that you’re thinking about on those days is that everything goes perfectly, and that the brides you’re singing for are happy. That’s what the day is all about for me. And once they’re happy, I’m happy, too. So when you get news like this, it’s just such a wonderful feeling.”

In fact, it was a case of double-delight for the talented Birr lady, as she was also nominated in the category of ‘Best Wedding Make-Up Artist’, highlighting a unique aspect of how involved Yvonne can become in someone’s wedding day. “Talk about twice the surprise, alright! Yeah, make-up is another aspect to what I do. I offer different packages, so it depends on what a bride is looking for. But it’s not strange to have me at someone’s house from early in the morning looking after make-up for the bridal party, and then to find me singing at the ceremony in the church later on. They can be very full days, but they’re so special to be a part of, I love them.”

And the soprano, who has played many starring roles on stage, including that of ‘Emma’ in the recent Tullamore Musical Society production of Jekyll & Hyde, also hinted at the possibility of her own concert happening in the not too far-off future! “That’s something I’ve been wanting to do for such a long time, and I think now the time is starting to feel right to do it. So we’re putting some plans together at the moment, and hopefully it won’t be too long before we can tell people more about it.”
